Day Two of the road trip started early with a scheduled helicopter ride over the eastern part of the Badlands. It was a short 10-minute flight, but the views were spectacular, as you'll see below! From this point on in the day - we saw everything we could possibly squeeze into the day: the Minuteman Silo, Wall Drug, Mount Rushmore, Crazy Horse, a beautiful hike into the Black Hills and a quick stop at a local microbrewery for a pint (no photos) before we finally settled into Rapid City for the evening. Day Two:

Day One: The idea for a "road trip" had been brought up a long time ago among friends. There was only two of us, but it was going to happen. An 8-day trip from Iowa to Yellowstone and SO much between! We started the journey in Ft. Dodge, IA and the goal for day one was to get through the flat farmland of Iowa and South Dakota and camp the first night in the Badlands.

As weddings go, you can always tell in the first 15 minutes how the day will go - and the wedding of Alec Hamaker and Monica Lamirand was no different. I walked into the room for the groom and groomsmen and was immediately met with laughter and good spirits. The rest of the day and evening followed suit.
The scene was perfectly set in rural Zionsville, IN for the union of two like-minded individuals that seemed to be totally enamored with each other. The more time I spent with Monica & Alec, the easier it was to tell why they decided to tie the knot. Congrats!

Here's another Georgia post - this time from Stone Mountain Park. Stone Mountain is well-known not just because of it's gigantic geological mass, but also for the world's largest bas-relief. The carving depicts three Confederate figures during the Civil War: Stonewall Jackson, Robert E. Lee and Jefferson Davis, and their horses: Blackjack, Traveller and Little Sorrel...

Spent Memorial Day weekend in Atlanta, GA visiting my brother-in-law and had an absolute blast! We never stopped moving and had a fun-filled, action-packed adventure every day. On Thursday, we hiked Kennesaw Mountain- I didn't take any photos, as I've previously blogged about it here.
But Friday's awesome adventure was renting a pontoon boat and exploring Lake Allatoona. What a beautiful lake! The traffic ranged from jet skis and kayaks to speed boats and yachts (all pictured below). I can't wait to get back and spend some more time with my feet kicked up in the warm Georgia sun! Here's some photos from the four-hour self-guided tour of the waterways. Cheers!

An action-packed weekend concluded on Sunday at Eagle Creek Park in Indianapolis with the B1G Rowing Championships. I've never shot rowing before this morning and I can tell you one thing- the fans are fanatics! Despite the cold May weather in Indiana and the sun having just risen above the horizon line - the fans were out in droves and cheering loudly for their respective schools.
I was focused primarily on the Iowa Hawkeyes, as always, but there's a smattering of photos of other teams and some wildlife in the mix too. #GoHawks Cheers!

To commemorate our 1-year anniversary, my wife and I took a trip to Las Vegas, Nevada in 2013. Most people tend to think of Vegas as the bright lights of The Strip and endless hours at the blackjack table and slot machines. We typically think of it as a place to sleep and a jumping off point for all the interesting places nearby.

Throwback to an opportunity I had to plan and execute the 2011 Telework Summit for a non-profit in San Francisco. I spent every free moment I had exploring the city and taking photos. The weather was perfect and the conference was a success. Previously un-published, here are just a few of the photos I took during my trip, including a few panoramic shots I stitched together. Cheers!

There are two things (that aren't my wife) that I love most in this life: baseball and the Iowa Hawkeyes. It's always an honor to have the opportunity to photograph the Hawks when they come to Indiana to beat up on the Hoosiers and the Boilermakers.

I love aviation and I love flying. It's a whole other world when you're 1,000+ feet above the ground. You look down at the Earth and everything seems so small. Houses are all lined up like little boxes and trees and grass make for great breaks from the bland tones of gray shingles and tan siding. Here's a collection of images I shot from the ground at IND - the Indianapolis International Airport. It's a beautiful, post 9-11 facility that was built for comfort and speed. I'm a little biased, but it is one of my most favorite airports in the country. Cheers!
