This week's hike was at Upper Buttermilk Falls State Park just south of Ithaca, NY and the weather could not have been more perfect! It's been in the 90's all week and it finally relented for the weekend and gave me the opportunity to hike through the upper part of the park, see Lake Treman (from the ground and the air) and enjoy the outdoors! I hope you enjoy - cheers!
Stopped on the way to the park for a quick aerial shot of the area.
After I got to the park and a brisk walk from the parking lot, I finally got to some running water and this cool footbridge.
The Bear Trail follows the creek bed from the road, back to Lake Treman.
There's a couple smaller waterfalls, but nothing like the view on the gorge trail in the lower part of the park.
The trail runs next to several rock ledges before finally leading to the lake.
When you finally get back to the lake, there is this very cool rock outcropping next to the dam.
Here's the aerial view of the same area.
And here's the view in the opposite direction.
There were several fallen trees in the area - most in soggy moss, which caught my attention due to the awesome texture.
There were flowers everywhere! It was an easy hike, but the vegetation and views were worth the time on the trail.
All-in-all, it was a beautiful day for a hike at Upper Buttermilk Falls State Park!
